A plea deal has been reached in the case of an Iowa City man accused of distributing child pornography via social media.
30-year-old Devin Kelly of Briar Drive is accused of using Snapchat to distribute two photos depicting children engaged in sex acts. The incident dates back to January of 2021. A check of a digital device belonging to Kelly reportedly turned up approximately 437 images and videos of children engaged in sex acts.
Kelly was charged with three counts each of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Possessing a Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act. If convicted on both counts, he would have faced a maximum of 21 years in prison.
Online records show Kelly pleaded guilty on Monday. To which charges is not listed, and a sentencing date has not yet been set.
