The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam.

The sheriff’s office says Muscatine County Community Services was contacted on Friday by an individual who stated a person reached out them on Facebook claiming to be from community services. The scammer told the individual they were eligible for a block grant, but that in order to receive the funds they had to pay $1,200 for processing.

The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to know such calls are a scam. As with any calls, text messages, instant messages, or emails, ALWAYS validate the information you are being told and DO NOT just send money.
