A single vehicle accident near Oxford has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest on drug charges.
First responders were called to the 1000 block of Highway 6 just after 8:30 Friday night for a 2010 Ford Focus that went into the south ditch just west of Black Hawk Avenue. The vehicle flipped and scattered debris. About 20 feet from the accident scene, investigators say they found a Hawkeye gym bag containing a bong as well as a yellow case with marijuana jars that was neatly placed onto a stump. Johnson County deputies say the driver, identified as 36-year-old Bryan Sherry of Forest View Circle, fled to his father’s home.
Sherry is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
