Two more attendees at Airbnb party near Shueyville face drug charges

Two more attendees have been charged for their alleged part in a party at an Airbnb near Shueyville that was advertised on social media as having marijuana present.

24-year-old Amoni West of Marion was taken into custody by Marion Police last Monday, while 23-year-old Onesty Tatum of Cedar Rapids was taken into custody by the Johnson County Sheriff’s office on Wednesday. The two are allegedly seen in photos and on video at a party that was advertised on social media as having marijuana present. Investigators say when they broke up the party on February 17th, 2024, they found 163 grams of marijuana and four firearms inside the residence, which is located on the 3000 block of 120th Street NE.

Also charged in the case are 26-year-old Markim Long of Cedar Rapids, 23-year-old Ireonna Parks of Cedar Rapids, 20-year-old Sydney Miller of Fairfax and 18-year-old Evelyn Newman-Sawyer of Waterloo. All six suspects are charged with Gathering Where Marijuana is Used. If convicted, they each face a maximum of one year in jail.
Long also faces a count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense, which is punishable by a maximum of two years behind bars.

West, a convicted felon, was already facing weapons charges after a Glock 22 with a full auto switch placed on it was allegedly found in her purse as she driving away from the party. Tatum is currently facing weapons charges out of Scott County.
