An Iowa City man faces felony charges after making death threats to a woman and assaulting the women’s children.
Officers responded to the East Court Street residence of 44-year-old Kendall Stewart Saturday night on reports of him making threats. A witness on scene said that Stewart made death threats to the witness and Stewart’s children. The witness stated that previously, Stewart pushed one of the children into a bookshelf, causing injury that was still visible. The witness also stated that Stewart would pull the child out of their bed while they were sleeping at hit them.
Stewart is also accused of hitting another child with a book on their back, leaving visible bruising.
He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Child Endangerment causing Bodily Injury, and could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison if convicted on both charges. A no contact order was also requested between Stewart and the children.
