A suspect in a Cedar Rapids murder case has been apprehended in Nevada.

According to a release from the city, US Marshals there arrested 51-year-old Donnie White for his alleged role in the death of 38-year-old Brittany Hopkins of Cedar Rapids. Police found her dead the morning of February 28th outside an apartment on the 2100 block of Westdale Drive SW.

On Friday, Cedar Rapids Police contacted the US Marshals Northern Iowa Task Force, whose investigators found information indicating White had fled the state after Hopkins’ death.

The Nevada Violent Offender Task Force got involved shortly thereafter, and were able to narrow their search to Las Vegas. White was approached by authorities shortly after 3pm Wednesday. White was arrested without incident and will remain in custody until he’s extradited to Iowa.
