Allegedly riding an electric scooter downtown while intoxicated has led to a felony charge against an Iowa City man.

Iowa City Police say just before 6:00 on the night of March 18th 35-year-old Timothy O’Brien was operating a self-propelled electric scooter along Clinton Street when he ran a stop sign at Court Street. O’Brien allegedly showed signs of intoxication and registered a breath alcohol level of .154%.

O’Brien has previous drunk driving convictions, and is now charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
