A homeless man with a knife is accused of following a subject into Iowa City City Hall.

Iowa City Police say a male came to its headquarters, which are located inside City Hall on East Washington Street, just after 9:15 Friday night to report he was being followed by 31-year-old transient Fermin Lagos. Lagos reportedly refused to identify himself to police, and a search of his person reportedly turned up a knife with a blade over five inches in length as well as a glass pipe with white residue.

Lagos, who has previous domestic abuse convictions, is charged with Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, Harassment of a Public Official, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all three counts, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
