A North Liberty woman was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting her live-in boyfriend.
Arrest records indicate 19-year-old Jakiya Boykins and the man were in a vehicle the afternoon of April 1st when they began to argue. The spat reportedly turned physical, and Boykins allegedly kicked her boyfriend on the right side of his face, causing pain, redness, and a bloody nose.
When interviewed, Boykins reportedly stated that she broke her cellphone while hitting the victim, and showed officers the broken screen.
She was taken into custody and charged with first offense domestic assault, a simple misdemeanor.
Boykins was released on her own recognizance the next day, with a no contact order issued by Judge Jason Burns. A non-jury trial has been scheduled for June 3rd, and a case management conference for May 5th.
