A Cedar Rapids man has been taken into custody after an investigation determined he cut off cable and internet service to two neighborhoods.
The Gazette reports 78-year old Steven Herman used a ladder and garden shears to cut the ImOn fiber wire behind his neighbor’s house on the 2800 block of Evelyn Drive SW at approximately 12:45 p.m. on March 22nd.
Herman was reportedly seen with the stolen wire by two witnesses.
A warrant was issued on April 9th and served Monday.
Herman faces one count each of Critical Infrastructure Sabotage, 2nd degree Criminal Mischief, and 2nd degree Theft. If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to up to 35 years in prison.
