A Coralville man wanted on a theft warrant was allegedly found with marijuana when officers caught up with him Wednesday afternoon.
27-year-old Christian Mbokolo of 22nd Avenue was observed traveling on Highland Avenue and was eventually contacted when he stopped at the Burger King parking lot and exited his vehicle. The officer told him he was under arrest, and Mbokolo asked for his wallet to be grabbed from his Jeep.
A strong odor of marijuana was detected, and a half-smoked marijuana blunt was allegedly found. Mbokolo reportedly admitted the blunt was his.
The warrant stemmed from an alleged theft of a can of beer from John’s Grocery on Market Street on April 4th.
Mbokolo was charged with marijuana possession and driving while suspended. Coupled with the theft charge, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted.
