A Lone Tree man was taken into custody overnight after allegedly assaulting the mother of their shared children.
Police were called to the Perkins Street residence of 31-year-old Elmer Valencia Madrigal at approximately 12:30am. The arrest report indicates that he assaulted the woman by grabbing her with his hands around her neck and strangling her until she nearly went unconscious. She reportedly had a visible injury to her neck.
The woman attempted to leave the apartment to get help from a neighbor, but Valencia Madrigal allegedly grabbed her, forced her to the ground, and dragged her on the floor.
Valencia Madrigal was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, Domestic Assault impeding Airflow, and Child Endangerment. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
A no-contact order was requested.
