The application window for Iowa’s student tuition voucher program, which uses taxpayer dollars to subsidize students attending private schools, has opened.

The scholarships, estimated to be around $7800 for the 2025-26 school year, will be awarded to all applicants for the first time this year. The previous two years had family income restrictions.

The money can be earmarked for tuition and other approved expenses.

Over 27,800 students are using the program this school year, with more expected this fall. Governor Reynolds proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year includes $314 million for the program.

Details are available at educate.iowa.gov.  The application window closes June 30th.
