The Iowa Pork Producers Association is now accepting nominations for the best breaded pork tenderloin in the state.
According to a release from the Association, each person can nominate one restaurant, whether a small-town café or a favorite go-to spot for tenderloins. If their nomination is chosen as best in the state, they’re eligible to receive a $100 cash prize.
The breaded pork tenderloin sandwich is a quintessential Iowa dish, enjoyed by Iowans and visitors alike. It’s an extremely popular item on the menu in small-town diners and restaurants across the state. Iowa leads the nation in pork production, and this contest is a way to celebrate both culinary pride and local agriculture.
The contest has drawn as many as over 9000 nominations and as many as 774 restaurants, which occurred in 2023.
Nomination forms are available at iowapork.org and are open until June 1st. The top five tenderloins, selected by undercover judges, will be revealed in October, and the winner gets $500.
