An Iowa City man faces a felony charge after a search warrant was executed on his residence.

Police were at the South Johnson Street home of 18-year-old Rayshawn Gadlen at approximately 5pm Tuesday.  A search of the premises allegedly turned up a P80 9mm handgun near Gadlen’s location.

An investigation showed that Gadlen was the owner of the firearm and reportedly admitted as such. He also told officers that his fingerprints and DNA would be on the gun and knew he was prohibited from possessing a weapon due to two previous felonies.

Marijuana was also allegedly located near Gadlen and throughout the residence.

He was charged with Dominion or Control of a firearm as a felon and Keeping Premises for controlled substances. If convicted on both counts, Gadlen could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
