A Cedar Rapids man is accused of committing two robberies in Iowa City earlier this month.
20-year-old Braden Jordan of Grand Oaks Drive NE was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:15 Sunday morning. Jordan is accused of following another subject to an apartment building on the 500 block of South Gilbert Street just before 3:30 on the morning of April 12th. Iowa City Police say Jordan stood watch while a second person stole an Apple watch from the person’s wrist. Jordan then reportedly destroyed a camera that had captured the incident on video.
At approximately 3:00 on the morning of April 6th, Jordan and another subject allegedly physically detained and assaulted another person near the corner of Prentiss and Dubuque Streets and stole $5 from their wallet.
Jordan is charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Robbery and one count each of Interference With Official Acts By Obstructing Prosecution and 5th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 22 years in prison.
