A convicted child sexual abuser has died while serving his sentence at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville.
The Iowa Department of Corrections reports 85-year-old Elmer Clay Dowler was pronounced dead at 11:13 Friday night in an IMCC hospice room. Dowler was in prison after he was convicted of committing sexual abuse against minors in Black Hawk County. His sentence began on Sept. 25th, 2011.
