University of Iowa Health Care has officially opened its new North Liberty campus.
Early Monday morning, UIHC North Liberty welcomed its first patients to the clinic, which is located at the corner of Forevergreen Road and Highway 965. The facility is UIHC’s first newly constructed hospital away from the university campus.
UIHC officials say the opening provides community members with more convenient access to UIHC services, including comprehensive orthopedics and emergency care.
The North Liberty location serves as the new home for the UI Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, which includes UI Sports Medicine. An emergency department with a Level 4 trauma center, plus a 24-hour drive-thru pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, and clinical lab services is also available.
While an official estimate has not been released, UIHC officials say hundreds of patients were expected to be seen at the new campus on opening day.
