Iowa City Fire Department responds to fire at the Johnson County Courthouse

The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a blaze at the Johnson County Courthouse Thursday night.

According to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters responded to a fire alarm the Clinton Street facility at 7:45. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire on the third floor of the building. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Johnson County Courthouse and Johnson County Clerk of Court will remain open for normal operations.
