Allegedly running an unlicensed used car dealership out of the Pheasant Ridge Apartments has led to the arrest of an Iowa City man.

63-year-old Omer Bakhit is accused of doing business as OBB Auto Services and Repair LLC, with the business address listed as his apartment on Bartelt Road. Bakhit is accused of selling at least 29 used cars in the nine months since his license to sell was revoked last August. Iowa Code only allows an individual to sell no more than six vehicles in a twelve-month span without a license. He’s also accused of rebuilding at least 30 salvage vehicles without a license.

Bakhit is charged with a Used Motor Vehicle Dealer License Violation and a Vehicle Recycler License Violation. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
