A North Liberty woman is accused of illegally using a friend’s checking account to pay tens of thousands of dollars in her credit card bills.
32-year-old Danielle Puls of Hackberry Street allegedly made seven unauthorized transactions from the friend’s account between September of 2024 and March of this year. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says the total amount of funds illegally transferred was $68,600.17. Puls later reportedly told police the funds were a gift from the alleged victim, but she would not elaborate.
Puls is charged with 1st Degree Theft and Identity Theft Over $10,000. If convicted on both counts, she faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
