Cedar Rapids Police make arrest in Sunday shooting

Cedar Rapids Police have made an arrest in a shooting that occurred Sunday night.

According to a release from the city, officers responded to the 4200 block of 21st Ave SW at approximately 8:52p.m. for a report of shots fired. Officers located a 32-year-old female victim with a non-life-threatening wound who received medical care at a local hospital.  The investigation also led to a 35-year-old male who was struck by gunfire.

As a result of their investigation, officers arrested 35-year-old Joe Exson-Grigler of Cedar Rapids and charged him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and 1st degree Harassment. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.

Police say their investigation is continuing and they are not releasing further information.
