Iowa City man accused of violating no contact order on social media

An Iowa City man was taken into custody last week after violating a no contact order.

According to police, 41-year-old Billyjack Hipes of Hudson Avenue sent a friend request to the protected party’s new Facebook page on Tuesday. He also reportedly commented “BS” on a post the protected party made on her old Facebook account.

The original no-contact order was issued April 28^th and was in effect for five years.

A warrant was issued for Hipes’ arrest for the violation, as well as a probation violation. He was taken into custody Wednesday. Judge Deborah Minot scheduled a probation revocation hearing for June 27^th.
