A Cedar Rapids man was arrested after allegedly becoming upset and vandalizing a transit building.

According to the arrest report, 44-year-old Kelvin Landfair of 20th Avenue SW was at the Coralville Transit facility on Quarry Road at around 10am Wednesday. He allegedly was upset because he left his phone on a bus.  Landfair then reportedly made threats to cause property damage over $1500 to get arrested on a felony charge.

Police say he then proceeded to exit the building and disassemble a cigarette dispenser. Landfair then allegedly threw the pieces at five of the building’s exterior windows.  Each of them, roughly 3 by 10 feet, were broken, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage.

When police arrested Landfair, he reportedly had the odor of ingested alcohol and agreed to a post arrest PBT showing his breath-alcohol level at .154 percent.

Landfair was charged with 1st degree Criminal Mischief and Public Intoxication. If convicted on both charges, he could be sentenced to over ten years in prison.
