An area transient was arrested Monday evening after he allegedly wrote a series of bad checks to a local grocery store.
Police say between May 8th and 9th, 42-year-old Thomas White wrote a total of ten different checks totaling over $1050 to purchase numerous items at the Waterfront HyVee.
All of the checks were returned for insufficient funds. When interviewed, White allegedly admitted to writing the checks, and claimed that the store refused to accept his money.
A warrant was issued on May 16th; White was booked at the Johnson County Jail last night and faces a 3rd degree Theft charge. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
