A Cedar Rapids man pulled over for speeding Sunday afternoon faces multiple charges.
45-year-old Michel Amani of 29th Avenue SW was stopped by Iowa State troopers after allegedly being clocked going 82 miles an hour on Highway 218 South, where the speed limit is 65 miles per hour. A check of his driving record showed his status as barred until 2029 for being a habitual offender; suspended for non-payment of Iowa fines; and revoked until 2030 for an OWI.
Amani reportedly gave a wrong date of birth to two separate troopers. He also allegedly switched his first and last name when identifying himself. The arrest report also indicates that Amani failed to have a required ignition interlock device installed on his 2011 Ford.
He was charged with Driving While Barred, Driving while Revoked, Driving while Suspended, Providing False ID information, and Operating without Interlock device. Amani faces up to 38 months in prison if convicted on all counts.
