A 50-year staple of downtown Iowa City nightlife is being converted into a country bar.
Cedar Rapids-based Hazzard County has announced on Facebook that it’s converting the current Fieldhouse location on the Ped Mall into its new Iowa City location.
The Fieldhouse has been a part of the downtown Iowa City bar scene for decades, starting in 1975 with its original location on College Street as a bar, restaurant and nightclub. The bar went through various owners before it was purchased by its latest owners in 2003 and moved to its current location on Dubuque Street.
Hazzard County Iowa City has already opened a Facebook page and plans to open the new location in the current Fieldhouse space by August 1st.
