The Iowa River Trail will close between Benton Street and Myrtle Avenue starting today. The closure will facilitate work on the Iowa River Trail Bridge Replacement Project.
The project includes the removal of the existing Iowa River Trail bridge and a replacement bridge with a retaining wall, grading, and other associated work. Other aspects of the project include repairs to the pedestrian bridge under the Iowa Interstate Railroad and additional trail replacement.
A detour route using sidewalks along Benton Street and Riverside Drive will be posted. The trail is anticipated to reopen this fall.
