An Iowa City woman faces jail time after an alleged assault on her boyfriend over the weekend.
54-year-old Nicol Mason of Taylor Drive was at her boyfriend’s apartment at Town and Campus on Arthur Street Sunday at approximately 6:51pm and struck him in the face several times. Police noted swelling to the man’s face and a cut on his lip consistent with being struck several times.
Mason reportedly took her boyfriend’s car, which they share, and drove away. Her driving status was listed as suspended through the state of Iowa.
Mason was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury and Driving While Suspended. If convicted on the assault charge, she could be jailed for up to one year.
A no contact order was requested between the two parties involved.
