An Iowa City man could spend time in jail after an alleged assault on his father.

Just after 1am Monday, officers responded to the Willowwind Place residence of 20-year-old Daniel Flores after a report of a fight between a father and a son.  Upon contact, he was allegedly uncooperative and stated that he was involved in a domestic dispute with his family.  Despite being told that he was required to identify himself, he allegedly refused.  Flores also reportedly told a witness on scene not to identify him.

An investigation into the incident determined that Flores was drinking with his father and repeatedly bumped into him. When his father asked Flores to stop, he allegedly stood up and challenged his father to a fight.  He then reportedly threw a cup at his father.

The father fled to a bedroom, and Flores allegedly punched a hole in the door. He then got on top of his father and punched him repeatedly about the head and torso.  The victim complained of pain and swelling.

Flores was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and Interference with Official Acts.  He could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted on both counts.
