A Nebraska woman was charged with OWI Monday afternoon after allegedly driving erratically.
Multiple witnesses called in to report a driver being all over the road on Interstate 80 near Oxford. The vehicle was also seen going into a ditch and coming back to the roadway.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Nyayien Mayian of Omaha Nebraska, then exited and drove onto 330th Street where she allegedly parked the vehicle in the roadway and ran away from an off-duty police officer who was checking on her welfare. She reportedly tried to hide in a ditch, but was apprehended.
Upon contact, Mayian had a strong odor of ingested alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and unsteady balance. She refused all field and chemical testing.
Mayian was charged with first offense OWI and could face up to a year of jail time if convicted.
