The University of Iowa is seeking approval from the State Board of Regents to begin work on three major projects.

The Press-Citizen reports the University wants to renovate and expand the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories to house the Computer Science Department.

They also are requesting funds to renovate the Cambus Maintenance facility to accommodate electric vehicle charging and expand storage for buses.

Finally, to make room for a new UI Health Care inpatient tower, three buildings need to be demolished.

The lab project has a projected cost of $28 million; the Cambus facility project has a price tag of up to $23 million. Estimated costs to take down the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center, Hospital Parking Ramp 1 and the water tower on Hawkins Drive were not made available.

The Regents will consider the proposals at their meeting Thursday at the Levitt Center on the U of I campus.
