A Tiffin man was jailed Tuesday night after police determined his intoxicated behavior was a danger to his children.

Police were dispatched to the residence of 46-year-old Charles Stewart on reports of an intoxicated man.  Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy learned that two young children had run from their residence to a neighbor’s due to Stewart being intoxicated and screaming.  Stewart had also allegedly pushed one of the children.

A family member who had stopped by the residence reportedly also left due to her being in fear of Stewart, who allegedly threatened to punch her in the face.

Stewart was allegedly visibly intoxicated, with slurred repetitive speech, unsteady balance, and bloodshot watery eyes. He reportedly admitted to being intoxicated. The deputy determined that Stewart’s behavior and intoxicated state posed a risk to the children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being.

He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Child Endangerment. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted on both counts.
