Coralville Police have released the name of the victim in a late Wednesday night homicide.
Officers were dispatched to the Western Hills Estates manufactured housing community on Highway 6 at 11:54 Wednesday night on reports of a disturbance and subsequent shooting. The victim had been shot twice in the chest. Attempts to aid the man were not successful, and he died at the scene.
The victim has now been identified as 27-year-old Mason Edwards of Coralville. No other new information has been released.
Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public. Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call them at 319-248-1800. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting Coralville Police in the investigation.
