A Lisbon man who was involved in a motor vehicle accident early Thursday was arrested for OWI.

According to police, 77-year-old Donald Maus was found just before 2am on 250th Street, in the driver’s seat of a 2011 Ford Fusion. He appeared to be dazed and confused after the alleged accident.  Maus admitted to drinking two 16 ounce Easy Eddy beers at a Cedar Rapids establishment earlier.

He showed multiple signs of intoxication including bloodshot watery eyes, and poor balance.  Maus reportedly told the officer that he thought it was about 9 in the evening and that he was trying to get back to his Mount Vernon home.

After showing a measurable amount of impairment on field sobriety tests, Maus provided a breath-alcohol level of .108 on a Datamaster.

Maus was charged with 1st offense OWI.
