A Sanborn Iowa man was charged with OWI and marijuana possession early Thursday.
The incident occurred on the 300 block of East Court Street in Iowa City just after 2am. Police say 22-year-old Samuel Heyn stopped his vehicle in the crosswalk at the intersection of Linn and Court Streets, and was allegedly found with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, droopy eyes and poor balance. He reportedly was confused as to why he was stopped, presumably due to his level of intoxication.
Heyn refused chemical testing; he was searched incident to arrest and was allegedly found to be in possession of a marijuana vaporizer.
He was charged with marijuana possession and first offense OWI. If convicted on both counts, Heyn could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
