Coralville Police have arrested a barred driver they say caught their attention when he popped a wheelie on his motorcycle, then crashed.
Arrest records indicate 20-year-old Deontae Morrow of West Benton Street in Iowa City was westbound on the Coralville Strip just after 10:00 Saturday night when he performed a wheelie as he crossed the 12th Avenue intersection. Morrow traveled for a significant distance on one wheel before he crashed.
As police were attending to Morrow, they learned he is currently barred from driving. He’s now charged with Driving While Barred, Reckless Driving, and Careless Driving. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
