Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announced over the weekend that he will seek a fifth term in office.
Pate released a video Saturday where he said, “I am thrilled to announce that I will once again be running to serve as your secretary of state, because we’re not done yet.”
Pate went on to list his accomplishments since taking over the position, including record voter registration and participation, and Iowa being recognized as a top state for election administration and integrity.
Pate was Secretary of State from 1995 to 1999. He ran for governor in 1998 but was defeated in the primary. He was Cedar Rapids mayor from 2002-2006. He was re-elected Secretary of State in 2014, 2018 and 2022. His current term runs through January 1st 2027.
