The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office has taken dozens of children into custody following raids on a pair of church camps.\According to a sheriff’s office news release, last Thursday and Friday deputies collaborated with Iowa Child Protection Services, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Columbus Junction Police Department to execute search warrants at the Kingdom Ministry of Rehab and Recreation in Columbus Junction and the Skekinah Glory Camp in Fredonia.

The sheriff’s office says the operation was based upon information and reports regarding child abuse and endangerment. All collaborating agencies were able to take protective custody of the 88 children, who were taken to the Wapello Methodist Church to meet with multiple child protection workers and provided to their parents, HHS, and temporary foster care to ensure the safety of all involved until their safe return to their parents or guardians.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
