A Hawkeye quarterback recruit has decommitted from the University of Iowa football program.
Cash Herrera, a member of the Class of 2026, made the announcement on social media Monday. The La Jolla, California resident wrote: “First off, I would like to thank the staff at Iowa for believing in me. After long discussions with my family, I have decided to re-open my recruitment. I wish nothing but the best for the Iowa program in the future.”
Herrera originally committed to the Hawkeyes in October of 2024. According to the 247Sports Composite, he’s rated as a three-star prospect and ranked 805th nationally in his class. Herrera is regarded as the 46th-best quarterback in the class.
