An area transient has been arrested after an alleged theft of an IPhone despite his insisting it was his.
30-year-old Devontae King was arrested on the 300 block of South Gilbert Street on an unrelated theft charge. He allegedly insisted that a blue IPhone in his possession belonged to him, along with two other phones that he reportedly hid in his underwear.
Within minutes of his arrest, the ICPD got a visit from a victim, who made a report of a stolen blue IPhone and named King as the suspect who walked away with the phone the previous evening. The victim provided the serial number and box for the phone, valued at $1000.
King was charged with 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.
