An Iowa City transient was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening a family on the Ped Mall.
The incident occurred on the playground at approximately 9:40pm. According to police, 57-year-old Charles Annis approached a couple and their three-year-old daughter and said he was going to kill them and threatened them with bodily harm.
The family was reportedly visibly scared when speaking to an officer. Annis was handcuffed incident to arrest, and a search allegedly found a meth smoking pipe in his pocket.
Annis was charged with 1st degree Harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum jail sentence of 25 months.
