Fireworks set off in a portable toilet led to a response from two different local fire departments Sunday night.
According to Washington County dispatch records, Riverside firefighters were called to an address on Dane Road between Iowa City and Hills for what was initially reported as an explosion from a gas pump just before 8:00. The caller reported seeing smoke, but no flames.
As they were on their way to the scene, Riverside firefighters were disregarded by the Hills Fire Department, which arrived to discover a subject had lit a firecracker inside a portable toilet.
No other details about the incident have been released.
