Cedar Rapids police arrest Davenport man for alleged connection to residential burglaries

Cedar Rapids Police have arrested a Davenport man in connection with a series of residential burglaries in the southwest part of the city.

23-year-old Alexander Jessop was located near 34th St SE and Random Road SE by officers actively engaged in identifying and locating the person or persons responsible for multiple burglaries in that area.  He was located by officers, attempted to flee, and when taken into custody, was found in possession of a stolen firearm and burglary tools. A subsequent search warrant was authorized and served at the suspect’s residence where additional evidence linking him to open burglary investigations was located.

Jessop was booked at the Linn County Correctional Center and faces several charges. They include Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, Interference with Official Acts involving a Firearm, Dominon or Control of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons, 4th degree Theft, and Public Intoxication.  If convicted on all counts, Jessop could be sentenced to over 19 years in prison.
