An Iowa City woman stopped on suspicion of driving while under the influence had a dangerous breath-alcohol level when tested by police.
At around 9:20pm Saturday, 29-year-old Erica Kennedy was stopped on Taylor Drive after squealing her tires while making a left hand turn and having issues maintaining her lane.
Kennedy allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance, and had the odor of ingested alcohol.
A PBT showed a breath-alcohol level of .281 percent; a subsequent Datamaster showed it at nearly four times over the legal limit, with a reading of .313 percent.
A check of Kennedy’s driving record showed two previous OWIs; one in 2017 and one in 2019.
She was charged with third offense OWI, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
