Two arrested after Muscatine attempted armed robbery, shooting investigation

Two people have been arrested as a result of an investigation into an attempted armed robbery and shooting in Muscatine.
The incident occurred at around 4:00 on the morning of June 21st somewhere in the area of the Parham Street and Cedar Street intersection.  After being shot, the 27-year-old victim drove himself to the 500 block of Cedar Street, where he was treated by medical personnel from the Muscatine Fire Department. The man was transported to Unity Point Hospital in Muscatine.
Muscatine Police now say 20-year-old Kimber Kallenberger and 18-year-old Justin Bass, who live together on Sycamore Street in Muscatine, had shot the man during an attempted robbery. They were arrested on Wednesday, with Bass being charged with 1st Degree Robbery, Willful Injury, Going Armed with Intent, Reckless Use of a Firearm, and Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony. Kallenberger faces charges of 1st Degree Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony. If convicted on all charges against them, Bass faces a maximum of 60 years in prison, while Kallenberger would face up to 35 years behind bars.
Bass is on probation for his involvement with a string of car burglaries that occurred in the area of the 200 block of West 7th Street in Muscatine on November 19th, 2024.
