A Cedar Rapids man who reportedly had a verbal agreement to use an individual’s vehicle but failed to return it promptly was charged with Operating a Vehicle without Owner’s Consent last month.

Coralville Police say 38 year-old Joshua Anderson had a verbal agreement with the victim to use their 2017 Chevy Impala on June 6th, with Anderson required to return it the following day.  Anderson did not return the vehicle in the allotted time, and did not attempt to contact the victim.

Cedar Rapids Police found Anderson operating the vehicle at 3:30 in the morning June 9th. A warrant was issued for Anderson’s arrest the next day and he was served Thursday. If convicted, he faces up to two years in jail.

He was released on his own recognizance later that day after his initial court appearance. Arraignment will be set at a later date.
