Iowa City firefighters responded to a cooking fire Friday night.
According to a news release from the Iowa City Fire Department, crews were called to a fire at 2620 Westwinds Drive at 7:50 p.m. Firefighters arrived on scene five minutes after being dispatched to find a cooking fire had been extinguished prior to arrival. One occupant of the residence suffered burns and was treated by ICFD and Johnson County Ambulance Service personnel at the scene prior to being transported to the hospital. There were no other injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The fire caused an estimated $1,500 in damages and remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Marshal’s Office.
