Iowa City man charged after alleged domestic assault

An Iowa City man faces several charges after an alleged domestic assault incident earlier this month.

According to police reports, 29-year-old Michael Figaro of Dodge Street caused injuries to the mother of his children the evening of July 2nd. The victim was reportedly observed with a cut on her right hand and a swollen left wrist, allegedly caused by Figaro. He also broke and stole her phone, valued at $500, before leaving the residence.

Four children, a boy and three girls, were in the residence at the time of the incident and witnessed the altercation.

Figaro has been charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury, 4th degree Theft, and four counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to over 9 years in prison.
