Iowa man charged with OWI and weapon violation

An Iowa man was charged with OWI after an incident in Solon over the weekend.

According to arrest reports, the mother of 21-year-old Ethan Hinners of Pomeroy Iowa called to report that he left her residence at speeds of 90 miles per hour in his Dodge Charger in a state of intoxication.  Deputies located the vehicle back at the mother’s house shortly afterwards.

Hinners was located in the back seat of the Charger without his shoes on.  A pair of shoes was located on the driver’s side floorboard.  HInners also allegedly had a handgun at arm’s reach.  He was reportedly observed with slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, and the strong smell of ingested alcohol.

Hinners refused field and chemical testing.

He was initially charged with OWI first offense, and Possession of Weapons while Intoxicated. If convicted on both counts, Hinners could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
